True Story: In Heaven for Four Hours

By | Humour, laughter therapy, Self Help | No Comments

True Story…I WAS LITERALLY IN HEAVEN FOR FOUR HOURS.

I was Flying back from Edmonton Alberta after having spoken to the teachers of Yellowknife in Canada’s Northwest Territories.

My seat, as always, was in economy class which meant that I would sit there for four hours with my legs wrapped around my neck.

Just as I was trying to make myself as comfortable as possible before take-off, the curtain separating economy class from first class opened and a young buck in his early 20s approached me and said,” Hey Buddy, how would you like to fly to Toronto first class?” While I was a little bewildered at his offer my legs cried out to me, ” TAKE HIM UP ON IT…YOU FOOL!”

I quickly said , ” Sure thing, but why would you trade first class for economy?”

He bent low as if to whisper a secret in my ear that would threaten the safety of the free world if overheard. ” There is a cute chick going to be sitting in the seat beside you and I want to see if I can connect with her.”

Recalling my youth his offer took on a more reasonable tone so I quickly said, ” You’ve got a deal.”

There I was all the way back to Toronto with my legs stretched out in front of me, my own little table to hold my food and drink and a flight attendant fluffing my free pillow and asking if I were comfortable. every half hour or so. THERE IS A GOD!

I got off the plane first (as we in fist class always do) so I never did get a chance to thank him again or find out how he made out with the young woman. There are some mysteries we just have to live with. By the way, this has never happened again.

TRUE  STORY

After having given a lively speech on ” Going for the Gusto ” ( Living, to the Max, the Only Life You Have) I was approached by a young man named Marty who said that he wished his parents had been in the audience. It seems his parents, who had just turned 70 and were in good physical health, had given up on life and were just waiting to die.

” They really needed to hear your positive, uplifting message but I didn’t realize  the talk would be like this.”  We chatted for a few minutes and I gave him a Free copy of my book for his parents. I do hope they read it and have their life batteries recharged BIG TIME.

The tragedy is that there are far too many people like Marty’s parents in “God’s waiting room. “  What we need to do is empty God’s waiting room and fill up God’s Play Room.

A True Story: Do You Need Help?

Mike’s Mirthful Musings.

This actually happened to me a few years ago.

I had just finished giving a talk in St. Mary’s Ontario Canada and was carrying all my stuff to my van…guitar, boxes of books, briefcase etc. To my left a woman was getting into her car to drive home when she took pity on me and asked, ” Do you need help getting it on?” I must have had a shocked look on my face because she soon realized what she had asked. I replied,” So far in my life so good, but thanks for being concerned about my private life.”

We both stood there laughing. Humour is everywhere just look for the comedy in your chaos.

It’s Story Time

By | Humour, Inspiration, Motivation | No Comments

Let’s face it…We all love to tell and be told stories at every age. Some say that we listen to over 100,000 stories a year and that is considered a conservative estimate. So I am starting a story telling page in this blog where you will find brief inspirational, motivational and funny stories from my extensive collection of over 700.

Here is the first of many. Feel free to use them for your purposes. Just give credit.

Leader or Follower? by Mike Moore

A father wanted to enroll his son in a popular private academy to ensure a quality education. He proceeded to complete the application and when he came to the question, ” Is your son a leader or a follower?” he immediately wrote down…A FOLLOWER.

The next day he sent the completed application by mail to the school officials.
Within one week the father received a phone call from the registrar saying that his son had been accepted.
When the happy father asked why his son had been accepted so quickly the registrar said, ” Out of the 100 applications we received your son was the only follower. The rest were leaders. This guaranteed him a position.

On my way home one day, I stopped to
watch a Little League base ball game that was being played in a
park near my home. As I sat down behind the bench on the first-
base line, I asked one of the boys what the score was
‘We’re behind 14 to nothing,’ he answered
With a smile.
‘Really,’ I said. ‘I have to say you
don’t look very discouraged.’
‘Discouraged?’, the boy asked with a
Puzzled look on his face…
‘Why should we be discouraged? We haven’t
Been up to bat yet.’
